SOAS University of London is in the UK’s top 25 for world reputation, according to the latest Times Higher Education Rankings 2021.

These rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only opinion survey asking scholars to name no more than 15 universities that they believe are the best for research and teaching in their field.

SOAS Director Professor Adam Habib said:

“We are very pleased to see our global reputation and excellence reflected in these rankings. Given that the rankings have been informed by experts in the field is a testament to the critical and transformational research that takes place at SOAS.

“We have an ambitious new strategic plan in place which will revitalise our research-intensity and drive our commitment to reimagining SOAS for the 21st century. As part of this, we will be appointing five new distinguished research professorships aimed at addressing the major challenges of this historical moment.”

The World Reputation Rankings survey, available in 14 languages, uses United Nations data as a guide to ensure that the response coverage is as representative of world scholarship as possible. It is also evenly spread across academic disciplines.

This news follows SOAS rising 17 places in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 national rankings. SOAS continues to rank in the top 10 of London Universities.
